President John Dramani Mahama has stated that the December 7 general election is about records and not insults.
He has consequently indicated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will never employ insults as a weapon in the elections.
President Mahama said this when he addressed separate rallies at Gomoa Benso and the Agona Swedru main Lorry station as part of his campaign tour of the Central Region.
The President will spend five days touring some constituencies in the region to canvass for votes.
He said the NDC stood for peace in the elections ‘’and not all-die-be-die’’.
Solid foundation
He said the NDC had laid a solid foundation for a massive socio-economic take-off in his next term.
He cautioned that those who were asking Ghanaians to try them would destroy the foundation laid by his government in the unlikely event of they winning the elections.
"This country is not going back," he told the crowd which responded with deafening cheers.
Large crowds
Large numbers of NDC supporters turned up to listen to their presidential candidate who persistently expressed confidence in the NDC winning the elections.
President Mahama's convoy had to drive slowly to the rally grounds as party supporters surged forward to cheer the President who responded with his trademark index finger pointed to the skies.
Touting his achievements, the President said by the Grace of God, Ghanaians would renew his mandate.
He said the electorate would vote but it was God who would choose the winner of the election.
Stressing that four years was not enough for a President to fulfil all promises made to the people, he explained that was why the Constitution made provision for re-election.
And once Presidents Rawlings and Kufuor were given the opportunity for another four -year terms, it was logical that he also would be given another term to complete the work he had started.
He said if President Mills had not passed away while in office, he would have won a second term.
