Aide to New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo says his boss has never called President John Mahama a thief.

According to Mustapha Hamid, all the NPP leader is seeking to communicate is to assure Ghanaians of an incorruptible leadership under his tenure as president.

His comment comes after President Mahama in an interview on Good Evening Ghana Tuesday night justified the personal attacks on his fiercest contender in the December polls, Nana Akufo-Addo.

The President said he described Nana Akufo-Addo as a “divisive leader” because for the past four years, he [Nana] has labeled him as “incompetent and visionless”.

“For four years he [Akufo-Addo] has described me as incompetent, for four years he has described me as visionless, for four years he has described me as a thief.

"He says when he comes to power he won’t steal your money what does that mean? It means I am stealing Ghanaians’ money” President Mahama fumed.

But in response, Mustapha Hamid on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday opined that the NPP flagbearer is only stating the obvious truth.

He explained that, the worsening social-economic conditions in the country is a result of incompetent leadership and unbridled corruption in the Mahama-led government thus Nana Akufo-Addo has not erred in saying the President is incompetent.

“The number problem in Africa is corrupt leadership so if Nana Akufo-Addo who wants to be president is saying he won’t steal from Ghanaians and someone is offended, then who the cap fit, let him wear it” he scoffed.

Mustapha Hamid said they will continue to describe the Mahama-led government as incompetent until he improves the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian.
