Flagbearer of the PPP, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has chided President John Dramani Mahama and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP,) Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo over what he describes as ‘children politics’ being engaged in by the two.
He says this one complains someone has hit me or bitten me and the other replies that he did it first.
Dr. Nduom who spoke through a Video News Release (VNR) said he was not amused by comments made by the President Mahama in an interview recently.
He likened the banter between the two leaders to how children behave in crèche – or kindergarten fighting.
“Akuffo Addo talked about Mahama insulting him… calling him a dictator, Mahama said Akuffo Addo called him a thief… incompetent. What is presidential about this? When they are done with this, they will go and say this is just politics. Is that the kind of politics we need?”
…Have we forgotten about dumsor, unemployment, lack of potable water, people who are suffering from cholera and malaria?”
The entrpreneur said that the two can pretend and go around saying they will not campaign with each other’s health or family life when in fact that is exactly what they are doing.
Dr. Nduom affirmed his commitment to the people of Ghana by saying that he will not engage in the kind of politics being practiced by the two leaders and that he believed that Ghana deserves better.
He further assured Ghanaians that he and his party will ply the road that will lead Ghana to a better place.
Against this background, he urged the two [President Mahama and Nana Addo] to continue with their ‘childish display and fights’ and that Ghanaians will be the judges come December 7th.
President Mahama is on record to have said: “For four years he [Akufo-Addo] has described me as incompetent, for four years he has described me as visionless, for four years he has described me as a thief.
“He says when he comes to power he won’t steal your money what does that mean? It means I am stealing Ghanaians’ money.
“I’m a politician and I know it’s an occupational hazard; sometimes to have your opponents vilify you so I don’t take it as anything… ". But Dr. Nduom does not accept this.
He says a country in need of the basics of life must not be subjected to politics of insults and vilification. “Ghana needs serious politicians who will pay attention and work hard to find solutions to the nation's many problems,” Dr. Nduom reiterated.
