NDC Activist Slaps Assembly Man

The Assembly member for Bedeku Electoral Area in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra Region, George Bliss Ahuahey, was allegedly given a hefty slap by his colleague assembly man.

Ahuahey was reportedly slapped by Theophilus Tetteh Ocansey aka TT, a government appointee who is a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The incident was said to have occurred at the premises of the assembly and the victim reportedly sustained injuries, as blood oozed from his nostrils.

He reported the matter to the Ada Foah District Police who issued a medical form for him to go to hospital for examination and treatment.

The assembly member returned the medical form which duly testified to the incident. Mr Theophilus Tetteh Ocansey was subsequently arrested.

Upon his arrest, a few NDC followers and the Presiding Member, Alhaji Shamsudeen Adjovu, came to sympathize with their party member.

Narrating the incident that led to the slap to DAILY GUIDE, a member of the assembly said that the Bedeku assembly member, in a WhatsApp group chat, questioned the motive behind the District Chief Executive (DCE), Nureeden Ahortu’s, decision to present a motorbike as a gift to a police officer stationed at the Ada Foah police station.

The assembly member further demanded to know who financed the purchase of the motorbike – whether the money was from the treasury of the assembly or the private pocket of the DCE.

Interestingly, the question was said to have attracted a backlash by some colleagues of the Bedeku assembly member in the group chat.

On the following day, prior to an assembly meeting, the victim was in the company of some members at the forecourt of the assembly waiting for the commencement for a two-day meeting summoned by the presiding member.

At about 9:15 am on that fateful day, Ahuahey saw Tetteh Ocansey walking from the assembly’s administration block and welcomed him, but he (Tetteh Ocansey) kept mute and left.

Some few minutes later, the government appointee moved towards the administration block when one of the members called him.

He turned and was murmuring towards Ahuahey and his colleagues.

He was reportedly heard saying that “You this child,” pointing at his colleagues, only to slap the right ear of Ahuahey without any provocation.

When the house began its session the matter was presented to the house and a motion was tabled on the grounds that Tetteh Ocansey misconducted himself, hence the need to compel him to leave the venue which was seconded.

Bertha Winako, another government appointee, tabled a counter motion which was seconded by Martha Dotser, necessitating a vote; and the majority indicated that he (offender) must walk out but the DCE and the presiding member protested fiercely against the decision.

Tetteh Ocansey eventually left on his own volition.
