Funeral Ceremony Becomes Rally Ground For Campaign

As political parties in the country braces themselves towards the December 7 Polls, a major funeral at Half-Assini in the Western Region on Thursday became a rally ground.
  
The two main Political Parties in the Country, New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) took the opportunity to present their manifestos to the large crowd of sympathizers gathered there to canvass for their support in the forthcoming elections.

They also contributed various sums of money to the bereaved families involved.
  
The funeral was organized by the Fante community in the town for 43 deceased members who passed on in the past two years.

It was well attended by family and friends including delegations from the NPP and NDC from Ekumfi District in the Central Region.
  
Both party delegations were led by their Constituency Youth Organizers, Mr Mubarak Quansah and Mr Abbas respectively of the NPP and NDC who took turns to address the ceremony.
  
Also present were Nana Ayebie Amihere VI, Senior Divisional Chief of Western Nzema Traditional Area (WNTA) and Jomoro Constituency NDC Party led by the DCE, Mr George William Somiah.
  
Speaking to the GNA Opanyin Solomon Odwuri, the spokesman of the Funeral Planning Committee, said a common funereal rites are held for those who pass on in the community within the year.
  
He said the ceremony could not be organized last year hence the large number of deceased people.
     
Opanyin Odwuri said the NPP, NDC and Honorable Abeiku Crentil MP for Ekumfi, who was represented, donated Ghȼ500.00,Ghȼ600.00 and Ghȼ800.00 respectively towards the ceremony.
