A communications team member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has revealed the party did not invite its founder, Jerry John Rawlings to its manifesto launch at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region.

Ametor Quarmyne explained that, the leadership left ex-president out of the very important occasion on the party’s calendar because “we didn’t want to bother him”. His comment comes after Mr. Rawlings on Saturday failed to attend the launching of the party’s manifesto for the December 7, elections.

The 80-page document titled: "Changing Lives, Transforming Ghana" according to President John Mahama has the best plan for the development of Ghana as it was birthed from the ideology and constitution of the party. But the absence of the NDC’s founder who signed the party’s first manifesto with his blood created anxiety among party members who see him [Rawlings] as their messiah.

This is because, the former President always attends the ruling party's manifesto launches to most importantly declare his unflinching support to their candidate ahead of such a crucial elections.

The same sentiments as expressed by New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong on Asempa FM programme Tuesday.

But Ametor Quarmyne in response said the party deliberately left their founder out since he can not necessarily be at all party functions due to old age.
