Vote For Mahama...You May Not Get Another President In 35 Yrs - Chief Of Staff Tells Northerners

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has charged electorates in the northern part of Ghana to vote massively for “brother” John Dramani Mahama, who happens to be the only northerner to become president after Dr. Hilla Liman’s short reign 35 years ago.

The Chief of Staff made the comment in Wa in the Upper West Region, where he is currently campaigning to sustain and whip up party enthusiasm among the rank and file of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Mr. Debrah is in Wa in the absence of President John Dramani Mahama – who is in Paris, France to address the UNESCO International Day for Universal Access to Information – to engage with the Chiefs and people of the Upper West Region and drum home the need to retain President Mahama in the December elections.

He said, “Truth be cited the first republican constitutional era for 1992, the first President we got was President JJ Rawlings and the very Ghana agreed that we should give him eight years and we agreed. “After him came President JA Kufuor ad the whole Ghana both northern and southern agreed that we should give him eight years and we did. “Now it’s the time of President John Dramani Mahama, who is from the north and we are being told that we should let him stay only four years so we can bring somebody and I don’t think this is fair so I’m using this occasion to urge you all to vote massively for your own brother because the last time we had a President from the northern part of the country was 35years ago.

“If you are not lucky and this opportunity slips by then you may have to wait for another 35 years so I believe that you should consider this and make sure you vote wisely.”
