Ayariga: I'm Not NDCs Poodle

The Founder of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr Hassan Ayariga, has refuted allegations that he is a “surrogate” of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“When I said that there were many armed robbers in government than outside [government], was the NPP not happy and shouting and making noise? Let us not talk as if Ayariga is talking for NPP or NDC. I talk for myself and not … for anybody. Nobody can buy my conscience,” he told Prince Minkah on Class91.3FM’s Executive Breakfast Show on Wednesday September 28.

Many critics, including Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Agyapong, has accused Mr Ayariga of doing the bidding of the NDC.

This was after Mr Ayariga said the flag bearer of the NPP was still living in his father’s house even at the old age of 72, thereby failing to show initiative and leadership.

But Mr Agyapong did not take the comments lightly, indicating that the APC founder was just a joker who was there to please the NDC.

In a reaction, Mr Ayariga said: “When Nduom insults Nana Addo, nobody says he is attacking Nana Addo. Let us be fair. Let us not be hypocritical – Nana Addo is not a god. If he can attack anybody in this country, anybody can also attack him.”

“I am not begging to be president. I’ll not go anywhere and say, ‘Try me.’ If you like, vote for me; if you like, reject me, I am who I am.”

He explained that he was being criticised because Ghanaians did not appreciate the truth.

For him, “Nana Akufo-Addo has served in government before as a minister, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom has also served as a minister. They both do not deserve to be in government again as fresh people with fresh ideas are the solution to Ghana’s challenges.”
