Gyan determined to win Arabian Gulf League topscorer award

The Black Stars skipper wants to win the Arabian Gulf League top scorer award once more, following his return to the championship.

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has set his sights on becoming the UAE Arabian Gulf League's top scorer of the season after hitting two goals in three games for Al Hilal.

The 30-year-old joined the Knights on loan from Chinese giants Shanghai SIPG, after a persistent knee injury and the arrival of record signing Hulk forced him to the reserve squad.

“Currently, I am doing well for my club Al Hilal because I have been able to score a couple of goals to win matches in all competitions,” Gyan told Hot FM.

“I just hope to maintain my form until the end of the season. It is not going to be easy but I strongly wish to win the topscorer award again after my return.

“There are some good players in the league also who are equally good and can win the award so it is not going to be easy but I hope I win it once more,” he added.

Al Ahli travel to Maktoum Bin Rashid al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai to face Al Shabab in their next league game on Friday and a win would see them moving two places up to first position with 12 points.

Gyan won the award three times while playing for Al Ain, scoring 95 goals in 83 appearances altogether.
