$275 Worth Of Gold Stolen

The Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) and the Tarkwa Command of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) have launched full scale investigations to unravel the circumstances that led to the robbery of $217,000 worth of gold, owned by Sankofa Gold. Information reaching the Chronicle newspaper indicates that around 8:30pm on Tuesday, two armed robbers wearing mask, attacked two security officers of the wholly owned Ghanaian Mining company, who were transferring the gold from the safe room to the Plant Managers office. The motive behind the sudden transfer of the gold to the Managers office is still unknown, as several attempts to speak to the Managing Director, one Mr. Ali, to explain the rationale behind this move proved futile. The Tarkwa Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent Kodwo Antwi Tabi, who confirmed the story in a telephone interview with The Chronicle, added that the police suspected foul play, but said this outfit was yet to interrogate any official.
