Commander Challenges Police Women

The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Rose Bio-Atinga, has charged police women to work hard and aspire to greater heights. My fellow police women this is our time to move the service and the nation forward, work with dedication because the sky is the limit, she said. DCOP Bio-Atinga made these remarks while addressing members of the Accra Regional Police Ladies Association (POLAS) after a route march as part of activities towards inauguration of the association. According to the Regional Commander who is also President of POLAS, there is the need for police women to aspire for better positions in the service by up grading themselves, Gone are the days when only the men went on refresher courses and further training. I want to assure you that you women can also make a difference in the service. She said, I know a police officer who entered the service with a Middle School Leaving Certificate but upgraded himself and rose to the rank of an Inspector General of Police, so you can also make it. According to her, even though there are challenges, with determination and hard work police women can overcome these challenges. Formerly, women were not allowed to go for night duties, but a few women who went to the shooting range excelled. She urged police women not to remain weak but to do well to get the necessary recognition. Some police women have been able to rise to Acting Inspector General positions, Regional and Divisional Commanders and others; you can also make a difference. Do not leave everything for the men, she tasked them. The walk which was attended by more than five hundred police women was led by ACP Elizabeth Alando, Accra East Divisional Commander. Amidst dancing and jubilation, the officers walked from the Tesano Police Training Center through Kwame Nkrumah Circle to the Regional Police Headquarters where the regional commander addressed them.
