We Want Our Share Of The National Cake - Christian Council

Reverend Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, the General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana has called on political parties to consider a ‘productive policy’ for the council in future.

According to him, the council is worried about the lack of attention given to issues affecting churches in the country by political parties in their 2016 manifestos ahead of the 7 December polls.

Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, Rev Opuni-Frimpong noted that, the Christian Council of Ghana has play a major role in the development of the country – yet political parties always sideline them in their missions and visions for the country.

“We have contributed significantly towards the development of the country. Most schools, hospitals and universities in the country belong to the churches. At least political parties must consider us in their manifestos because we are helping this country” he lamented

He told host Kwasi Aboagye that – “The relationship between the council and government is fading out gradually. We must also have our share of the national cake. Political parties must have us in their plans.”

He added: “Of course, we are aware of the Zongo Development Fund, SADA and others. While we recommend all of them for stating these things, we feel that there are other deprived communities that must be responded to and again because of the significant contribution that the churches and the other religious bodies contribute, at least our concerns should not be ignored.”
