Central Regional Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Mr. Ato Maclean, has disclosed that the party is working assiduously to win five out of the 23 parliamentary seats in the Central Region in this year’s general elections.

According to him, the plans and strategies the party has been executing in the region were going very well hence their strong conviction that the party will be represented by five parliamentarians from the region in the next Parliament of Ghana.

The CPP scribe who declined to name the five targeted seats for strategic reasons added that the party has realised that the electorate were fed up with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“We planned and strategised and we have realised that those plans and strategies are going very well for us so we are executing them,” he opined.

He disclosed this to Today in an interview in Cape Coast last week.
Mr. Maclean added that his party has set up a monitoring team who has been attacking those constituencies vigorously to ensure that the CPP snatches those seats in the December 7 polls.

“We set targets and we have achieved so many of them and we have also realised that Ghanaians are fed up with the NDC and the NPP and we are tapping into that and riding on it,” he stated.

He confidently stated that the CPP can win this year’s elections with the election of experienced Ivor Kobina Greenstreet as their flag-bearer.

“We being number one on the ballot is not by chance because this year marks the 50th anniversary of the overthrow of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and our flag-bearer is 50-years-old and we’ve gone underground to work and we are seeing signs of victory for the party even though the NDC and NPP are out-spending us,” he pointed out.

He claimed that some people wanted to get CPP out of Ghana politics forgetting that the party was in the heart of many Ghanaians, adding that the love Ghanaians have for the party was going to manifest in its performance in this year’s elections.
The regional secretary, therefore, charged Ghanaians to vote massively for the CPP which, according to him, brought Ghana into being.

“We in the CPP know that 50 years down the line, Ghanaians have realised that they have made a big mistake by jubilating over the overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah and they want to appease CPP by voting it back into power for economic freedom,” he stated.
