ECG Promises Generators To Collation Centres

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has promised to provide back-up generators to collation centres in all constituencies in the country on Election Day.

A release, signed by Mr Joseph Forson, the Volta Regional Manager, ECG, and copied to the Ghana News Agency said “the provision of the generators is part of the Company’s initiative to ensure constant illumination during and after next week’s general election”.

He said the Company had already undertaken a number of planned maintenance work on electricity distribution aimed at making the system “robust to breakdowns and failures” during the elections.

The release said the ECG was also providing a standby staff in all its districts to monitor sensitive installations as well as attend promptly to faults that may occur.

“In electricity distribution, the issue sometimes is not whether or not the power can go off, but how promptly power can be restored if there should be a sudden unplanned outage,” the release said.

It appealed to customers to report any suspicious activities of persons at the Company’s installations to the police.
