Bishop Bentil Writes On Christian In Politics

Justice Kojo Bentil, Presiding Bishop of Kingdom Power Family International (KPFI), a network of churches and campus fellowships in Ghana and abroad, is stirring the political dynamics of the country’s electoral system with his new book, “The Dispensation of Influence.”

The eight-chapter, 98-page religio-political book which is being launched on December 4 – three days to Ghana’s presidential and parliamentary elections – encourages Christians to rise up boldly to seek political offices to turn the destiny of the country around through Godly policies and practices.

Pastor Edwin T. Langmer, who doubles as a lawyer and banker, in a preview, described how the book appeals to best people in Ghana to hold leadership positions which is God’s perfect plan to address the plight of the people.

“It makes the fundamental point that the best people to lead a country politically are people who have the true heart and Spirit of God,” the previewer, who is the resident pastor of KPFI, writes.

The book refers to a story about trees (people) who were in search of a leader to rule over them. The olive, the fig and the vine were named as the preferred choices.

However, they rejected the offer, each with a reason which bothered on their uniqueness and their God-given nature.

The position was, however, readily accepted and occupied by Bramble, who represented wickedness, selfishness and unforgiveness. This naturally led to suffering among the trees (people) as a merciless and selfish leader was ruling over them.

The book addresses the topical and old age, albeit erroneous belief that true Christians or good people should stay away from active party political activities to protect their reputations, a vacuum which is ultimately filled by less desirable people or mean characters whose leadership results in general suffering and unhappiness which must be borne by all.

This very informative and inspiring book could not have been written at a time better than this political season.

The book fixes a key issue. Political leadership should be diligently pursued by the best and selfless people in the country, otherwise the worst people will take up the roles of governance and the whole society will eventually suffer.

This readily addresses some religious doctrines which teach that Christians and the people of faith must not go into politics for the fact that it is a “dirty game” and will impugn their integrity.

But the book uses an inspirational, common sense and simple approach to prove that nothing could be further from the truth than this.

“The Dispensation of Influence” is highly recommended for people of all ages and persuasions, as it draws on the Bible by the leading of the Holy Spirit to reveal a universal truth about the purpose of leadership and its effects.

As noted in the foreword by Dr. John Kofi Mensah, the author, who was consecrated as Bishop by the International Bishops Conference in October 2012, applied much simplicity to reveal astounding truths and revelations.

The book will officially be launched Sunday, December 4, at the KPFI, the Shepherd’s Cathedral, off Terrazzo Junction, Odorkor, Accra, at 10 am.
