2 Injured In Crash At Adisadel

Twelve people sustained various degrees of injury on Monday afternoon when a Sprinter mini bus they were aboard veered off the road and crashed into a tree near the Adisadel College Junction, here.

The driver of the vehicle, with the registration number GT 4886-16, was heading to Takoradi from Accra, when it was crossed by a motorbike, leading to the near fatal accident.

According to an eye-witness, the vehicle turned on its side due to the impact of the crash, but was immediately pushed back onto its tyres and the victims, including five children, were rushed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

The motorbike rider attempted to abscond but was arrested by the police.
Confirming the incident, Mr. Stephen Anokye, Central Regional Manager of the National Road Safety Commission, blamed both the mini bus driver and the bike rider for driving carelessly.

He said the impact of the accident showed that the driver had exceeded the 50-kilometre per hour speed limit in the area, and its tyres were all faulty.

He advised motorists against reckless driving and speeding especially during this festive season, and urged passengers to politely keep drivers in check to save their lives.
