I Never Said Fresh MPs Must Be Inducted In Dubai - NPP MP Denies Report

Frank Annoh–Dompreh, Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri has dismissed reports that he has proposed for fresh Members of Parliament to be inducted in Dubai.

Thursday edition of Ghanaian Times published that "A proposal by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency, Frank Annoh-Dompreh for fresh MPs to have induction Seminars in Dubai has been met with sharp opposition by members of the Minority Caucus."

There was a statement on the floor by the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu who announced an induction seminar for new MPs was scheduled to be held at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in Accra.

The seminar is to commence on Friday, January 27 and end on 31st January.

"But the pressures and the hustles in Accra makes the venue for the training not suitable, Mr. Annor Dompreh noted, as the Speaker, Professor Mike Oquaye welcomed suggestions from Members," portions of the publication read.

He noted that "The nature of the training demanded that it was held in a more serene environment, adding "if we could have it in Dubai or somewhere like that, it will be nice."

Addressing the issue on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Hon. Annoh-Dompreh explained that he mentioned Dubai because the MPs were shouting "Accra-Dubai" as he was making his submissions before the House.

According to him, it was meant to be a joke.

He however stated emphatically that he never in anyway suggest that the fresh MPs should be flown to Dubai for their induction seminar.

“What are we going to Dubai to do? I beg, if they will engage in opposition; they should do constructive opposition . . . That was not what I meant. If people are getting the wrong impression, I will take this opportunity and apologize to my people, my fans, the media. If they got the wrong context, I never [never] and I could never have thought about anything that we should fly Ghana’s MPs to Dubai.”

“This negative propaganda and spinning won’t help the progress of the nation. Nana Yaw, I never meant that we should take Ghana’s fresh MPs to Dubai. I could have never had thought on that line.”
