Mr. Jonathan Nii Tackie Komme, Member of Parliament (MP)for Odododiodioo, has appealed to residents of Sodom and Gomorrah slum at Old Fadama, affected by a planned eviction by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to relocate. He said their voluntary relocation would facilitate works on the Korle Lagoon Restoration Project. Mr. Komme gave the advice at the inauguration of the branch executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at separate ceremonies within the Korle Workon and the Old Fadama special wards in Accra. Executives from 23 branches from Old Fadama, Ayalolo, Kokompe and the Arena were sworn into office by the MP. Addressing the Old Fadama executives, Mr. Tackie Komme described the NDC as a social democratic party that is caring and has the interest of the people at heart. He said this explained why President John Evans Atta Mills directed the Vice President, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, to find an amicable solution, "with a human face", to the Sodom and Gomorrah problem. The MP stated that the Vice President would visit the area soon for on-the-spot assessment as part of the efforts to find an acceptable solution to the crisis. Mr. Daniel Nii Okai, Constituency Chairman, thanked members of the party for their dedication, which resulted in the victory of the NDC in the 2008 general election. He charged them to continue their hard work to win more supporters for the party to make victory a foregone conclusion in the 2012 elections. Mr. Festus Bekoe, Constituency Vice Chairman, explained the rationale behind the re-organisation of the party, which he said was a constitutional requirement of the NDC. He explained that every branch had to be organised around a polling station and revived in readiness for the 2012 general election.
