Robbers Raid UCC Hostels

The robbers were reported to have also made away with laptops, mobile phones, television sets and an amount of GH₵500.

An eyewitness recounted how the robbers banged their door s and opened amid warning shots to warn occupants of one of the rooms in their presence.

“I and my roommate hurried into the bathroom in fear upon hearing the gunshots while the robbers carried out their activity,” the eyewitness added.

The robbers reportedly went from room to room and caused a lot of damage at the hostel.

Meanwhile, the incident has since been reported at the UCC police station for investigation.

However, some students who spoke to our reporter expressed worry about the lack of adequate security at most of the hostels on the campus.

According to them, there are about 100 hostels around the university community but most of them lacked adequate security which situation puts lives of the students in danger.

They lamented that managers of the hostels have turned a blind eye to their concerns in spite of several complaints
