Andre Ayew Admits Injury Woe At West Ham Caused His Dip In Form

Ghana attacker Andre Ayew has attributed his dwindling form to his ill-timed injury at West Ham United late last year.

Ayew was out for two months after featuring his first game for the Hammers in a League game against Chelsea.

The Black Stars deputy captain spent some time on the sideline before returning to the pitch.

The 26-year-old struggled to maintain his form upon his return from injury mounting pressure on the player who was the record signing for West Ham United in the summer.

The Ghanaian international in an interview with West Ham United’s official website revealed his frustration having recovered from his setback.

“It was very frustrating the start I had here. I think when you come, you have good intentions and want to help the squad. Then you get a really bad injury, and even when I got back I still had some pains and I was playing through the pains.

“I was out for two months or maybe three. I knew if I didn’t get injured again, the pain would go and now I’m much, much better and I can help West Ham.”

Having won the top scorer award at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea, the former Olympique Marseille ace only managed to score twice for the Black Stars at the 2017 Nations Cup in Gabon.

He has so far scored once for West Ham United since his move from Swansea City.
