Agona West NPP Youth Group Accuses MP

A Group of New Patriotic Party Youth supporters in Agona West has protested against the decision of the Member of Parliament MP, Mrs Cynthia Morrison for allegedly imposing a new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) on the Constituency.

The group has therefore appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to intervene to restore calm and peace to ensure future development of the party.

Addressing a Press conference to register their displeasure, Mr Patrick Quainoo, spokesperson of the group said the mode of selection of MCE was not properly done to appease party supporters in the area.

He alleged that the MP had solely selected a candidate she could control to serve her parochial interest.
Mr Quainoo said it was prudent for the MP, Constituency Chairman and elders to settle on a competent and reliable person who could deliver to fulfill President Akufo-Addo’s vision and not the hand-picking that was done by the MP.

The Spokesperson hinted that the Youth group regretted that the MP was consulted to ensure the selection of the MCE but the MP declared that she had no one in mind.

To avoid division and hatred in the NPP in Agona West, the group suggested the intervention of the President to ensure peace and stability in the constituency.

The spokesperson further stated that the mode of selection of the government appointees to Agona West also received huge protests because the rightful people were not selected.

Meanwhile, Mr Kofi Osei, Special Aid to MP denied the allegation made against the MP adding that she was not the appointing authority.

He said the MP has not chosen any one as being speculated by NPP youth group and described the action as unconstitutional of the NPP and should be treated as contempt.

Mr Osei said a vetting Committee in the Central regional settled on three names withheld for security reasons and had been submitted to Flagstaff House for further interrogations.
