Lynx Entertainment; Loved, Envied or Hated

In the last few years Lynx Entertainment is the label to have made the most impact. Several record labels spring up each year, most of them end up unable to bring their artistes to the limelight and even when they do; they are able to do so with only an artiste. However, Lynx Entertainment has churned out artistes, beginning with Asem to Richie, Irene, Eazzy & OJ Blaq. The label has several other artistes who will be outdoored soon. For several months now, the label has dominated airwaves; not only by songs from its artistes but mostly by songs produced in the label's studio by its chief Executive, Richie Mensah. Of a fact the label has been the most outstanding over the last few years. Following the achievement of these enormous feet they have become subjects of discussion for most industry players. There are such diverse opinion and perception of the label that it is difficult to tell whether they are loved more or hated most. However, contrary to the thoughts upheld by several industry players that they should stay out of the news or do things which will ensure that they are not disliked or talked about, I believe this sharp division in perception and opinion should be expected. First, they occupy the position several artistes and labels will want to, secondly, they are not quiet about it, thirdly they like to present themselves as different from the lot. Seriously, who can blame them for any of these, that is the game and that is how it should be played. The first criticism I heard was about the fact that Richie's beats all sounded the same and those which ate different were sampled. Later, I heard the Ghanaian National Anthem: "they are two known". Third I heard how Asem was so bad a rapper from "The Gh Rap" quaters. Number four was how they drove in their mum's car. Five, how Richie stole London, Six, how they never are able to show their videos on television and their inability to sell. Who sells? Take a critical look at the bases of people's criticisms and what is said about them. Mostly it's bull. These are young men who have made it on their own with no financial or other assistance from the usual suspects of the industry. One is tempted to think that most of these falsities are spread out of envy but wait.... There are so many artistes in Ghana and several other new outstanding arts why would Lynx Entertainment be the only label or set of artiste consistently bad monthed. Perhaps there are a few nuts to be tired. Recently, I met an individual who practically spent a week with Lynx Entertainment in a hotel in Kumasi where they started their promotions who told me that the group met with her at a party and could not make her out and I was stunned. Just may be a year of stardom is capable of making us forget our birthdays except we throw parties every other month to remind ourselves of our birthdays. Lynx Entertainment has just as much fan base and support as they have detractors, it is possible to win over most of those who chastise them today and the label should seriously consider that. Just maybe, they are loved, envied and also hated. Lynx, show us more, give us more classic tunes, churn out extraordinary new talents, produce better beats and they might move from envy and hate to love and support. And oh ... Keep up the parties... They always help.
