Bawku Violence: Police To Name Alleged Perpetrators

The Upper East Regional Police Commander, ACP Bright Oduro, has indicated his outfit�s preparedness to make public the identities of all individuals or groups of persons alleged to have master-minded the latest violence in the Bawku municipality. The Police Commander believes this will go a long in reining in the bloody incidences of violence recorded in the area recently. Speaking in an interview on PEACEFM�s morning show, �Kokrokoo�, ACP Bright Oduro said the decision to reveal the identities of all the perpetrators, was agreed upon after the Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) met on Monday. �Very soon we will publish the names of suspected individuals who are behind the Bawku riots�including those suspected to be the ring-leaders in this week�s conflict� we decided to reveal the identity of one �Bush Rambo� and put a price tag on him,� he told Kwami Sefa-Kayi. According to the ACP Bright Oduro, the recent lull in violent clashes in Bawku in the Upper East Region was breached on Friday when a man identified as Mohammed Iddrisu, but commonly referred to as �Bush Rambo� reportedly embarked on a shooting spree in an attempt to kill another man near the animal market. He expressed alarm about the sophisticated weapons used by the feuding parties in the shooting incidents. ��.Bush Rambo, who was said to be armed with an AK 47 assault rifle at the time, fired at Fuseini Moro but missed him. He however, followed up shooting indiscriminately, firing over 20 bullets all in an attempt to kill Fuseini Moro who was riding a motorbike�.the herdsman believed to be a Kusasi, was shot by �Bush Rambo� a Mamprusi, leading to the sporadic shooting that lasted for more than three days�the sounds of gunshots indicate the use of very sophisticated weaponry like AK-47�it could also be G3, machines guns�but we don�t know how they gained access to these weapons. How they came by the ammunitions is also very worrying,� he stated. Meanwhile, about 29 suspects have been picked up for screening, whiles three people have been confirmed dead with seven others injured.
