Asiedu Nketia & Other NDC Gurus Endorsed My Council of State Ambition – E.T Mensah

Enoch Teye Mensah popularly known as ‘ET Mensah’ says he was endorsed by some kingpins in the NDC for his desire to join the Council of State in the Nana Addo-led administration.

The former lawmaker of Ningo-Prampram however mentioned his party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia among the gurus who okayed his decision to contest the position.

“Hon Asiedu Nketia sent me a message approving my decision and I still have that message on my phone. Some NDC gurus also held meetings and they all approved that, but I don’t want to mention names. So I don’t know why people were complaining about the decision,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.

Notwithstanding the massive endorsement he canvassed, the former Minister of Sports on the day of election pulled out of the Council of State race in the Greater Accra region citing personal reasons.

He noted that - his grandchildren could no longer stomach the invectives coming at him through social media, and had to prevail on him to withdraw.

Mr. Mensah however told host Kwesi Aboagye that “Even though I pulled back from the contest, I don’t regret my decision whatsoever.”

“We must grow this country, I will not hesitate to advise the President privately and congratulate him as well if he is performing well. He [Nana Addo] knows the kind of person I am,” he added.
