Gov't Must Be Courageous And Tell Ghanaians Dumsor Won't End Soon - PPP Communicator

PPP Communicator, Nana Ofori Owusu has called on the Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko and the Government of Ghana to be courageous and tell Ghanaians the real condition of the energy sector.

According to him, the government should be bold to let Ghanaians know that the energy situation, affectionately called 'dumsor' cannot be solved in months.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Nana Ofori Owusu decried the power cuts in the country and criticized the Energy Minister for saying the energy issue is a localized problem.

To him, the Minister should stop trumpeting the same language that the previous NDC government used to describe the problem, for which they were voted out of power.

Nana Ofori Owusu called on the government to fix the energy situation but advised them to stop acting like the previous government.

“The dumsor thing is real. It’s a nightmare. That’s how people are losing their jobs. So, if you say you going to create new businesses and job opportunities for the people, you need to stabilize your energy issues. If you don’t stabilize the energy issue, Kwami; you can talk to cows come home, nothing will change.”

He noted that he understands the problem cannot be fixed with immediate effect but the reasons cited by the Energy Minister are just a mere echo of the excuses the Mahama government gave to Ghanaians.

“The energy problem we have, it will not be fixed in 2 months. It won’t be fixed in 3 months. It won’t be fixed in 6 months. Kwami, I guarantee you that it won’t be fixed in 1 year. It will take time. That’s why I’m saying the government should bring its blueprint. They should come and say it. They should be bold. The leadership should be courageous,” he said.
