Otabil’s Fufu Comment Diversionary Tactic To 'Shield' Akufo-Addo - Yamin

The former Deputy Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Joseph Yamin has launched a scathing attack on the head pastor of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) Pastor Mensa Otabil for speaking against ‘fufu’ eaters in the country.

Pastor Otabil is captured on a video which has generated controversy saying people die before their time due to their continuous eating of locally prepared ‘fufu’ infested with bacteria from pestle and mortar use in pounding it.

Speaking on Abusua FM, Mr Yamin claimed the man of God lacks ideas to preach to his congregation hence his ‘unguarded’ comment about the delicacy widely eaten by Ghanaians.

According to him, ‘fufu’ eating has been with Ghanaians since time immemorial saying his preaching pattern has changed because his party New Patriotic Party (NPP) is now in power.

”Otabil has nothing to preach about, he seems to be diverting from his usual preaching about leadership and resorted to talking about fufu. Fufu has made you who you are today, why speak against it?,’ he claimed.

The former Ashanti regional secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) claimed the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has failed Ghanaians with his numerous promises of changing the fortunes of the country hence the diversionary tactics adopted by Pastor Otabil.

Mr Yamin said Ghanaians who are faced with hardships are disappointed in the government because ‘Dumsor’ is back and that their businesses are on the verge of collapsing.

He questioned why Pastor Otabil is playing the double standards by telling Ghanaians to desist from complaining and give the government ample time to fix ‘Dumsor’ but spoke against the erstwhile Mahama-administration on the power outages.

‘Pastor Otabil has instead been telling Ghanaians to stop complaining and work on their attitudes. He said Ghanaians have attitudinal problem, he keeps saying Ghana’s problem is not about leadership but attitudinal problems among Ghanaians.

He described ‘Dumsor’ in former President Mahama’s administration as bad leadership, but now that it is occurring in President Akufo-Addo’s government, he says its attitudes on the part of Ghanaians, saying we like talking too much and that we should allow the government to do its work. He is just diverting attention, Ghanaians are disappointed in the government and Pastor Otabil and other NPP pastors are justifying the hardships in their preaching,’ he fumed.
