The paraphernalia of the various political parties, according to a cross section of Ghanaians, has more patronage than the national colours.

Mrs Raamatu Mohammed, a trader told the GNA in an interview that the paraphernalia of political parties were getting more patronage during the elections than the colours of the nation that come in different types of paraphernalia as well.

She said ‘’the business of selling national colours was slower than party colours during the campaign season’’ even with the same prices.

Miss Dzifa Agbeshie, a trader at the Tema station said business was normal but the political part paraphernalia had more patronage than the nation’s colours when the two were compared.

But they testified that, even though the political party paraphernalia had more patronage than the national colours during the campaigns ‘’today as Independence Day when both were displayed, they were buying more of the Ghana colours than the party colours’’.

Mr Mensah Badu who was dressed in national colours from top and down with his two sons heading towards the Black Star square said he was ‘’ a patriotic Ghanaian’’ but was rather sad that most people were more attached to their diverse political parties than the country’’ ’It is bad for the culture and history of our country’.  

He added that Ghanaians should be patriotic by dressing locally to portray the good image of Ghana to the outside world to ‘’help to preserve the rich culture of the country and to lift the flag of the country higher’’.
