Government Determined To Substantially Invest In Education - Minister

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah, has underlined the determination of the government to substantially invest in education, to ensure quality and access.

He said it firmly believed that this was the way forward to drive the nation’s development.

He said this in a speech read for him at the 48th anniversary and speech and prize giving day of the Fomena T. I Ahmadiyya Senior High School (SHS).

Mr. Osei-Mensah said education was a major priority on the development agenda of the Akufo-Addo Administration and that it would receive every necessary attention.

He reminded students to accept to do their part by remaining focused and working hard on their books.
He told them not to waste their time on social media, Whatsapp, Facebook and Twitter.

The Minister said although the mobile phone was an important communication tool, it had its down side - could distract students from their studies.

He advised them to stay away from anything that could ruin their future – alcoholism and hard drugs.
Alhaji Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih, Ameer and Missionary in-charge of Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, called for teachers to show strong commitment and passion for the job.

They should also become good example; role model to their students.

Ms. Zainab Adams, the Headmistress, complained about inadequate classrooms, students’ and staff accommodation and the lack of well-equipped information and communication technology centre (ICT).

She said these needed to be tackled to enhance smooth teaching and learning in the school.
