Dilemma Of A Kidney Disease Patient-Nana Yaa Konadu Reveals

The host of an award-winning health programme dubbed ‘Mpom Te Sen’, Nana Yaa Konadu on Peace 104.3 Fm shares the predicament of Ms. Gifty Larbi, a kidney disease patient as she struggles to pay for her dialysis in order to prolong her life.

It is an undeniable fact that kidney plays a crucial role in human life as it extracts waste from the blood and balances body fluids from urine.

When kidney fails to work, getting waste out of the human body becomes an issue and it gives you two options as in kidney transplant to survive and or dialysis to prolong your life.

Ms. Gifty Larbi is endangered by kidney failure as she has been battling the condition for 5 years now with only option of staying on the dialysis because she disclosed to Nana Yaa Konadu on ‘Mpom Te Sen’ that she could not get a donor who was below the required donor age of 50 years for the kidney transplant.

“Her survival now hinges on the dialysis. Gifty has been on dialysis for 5 years and she and her family have run out of funds to continue her dialysis treatment. She only rely on philanthropist to access the dialysis service”, Nana Yaa Konadu disclosed.

Gifty Larbi, the kidney disease patient recently came to Nana Yaa Konadu for support as her case was getting out hand; thus her stomach has protruded with swollen feet but fortunately some well wishers donated some cash which can take care of her dialysis treatment for a little over a month.

The Kidney disease patient however mentioned as she narrated some of the challenges she is confronted with that even her eating is restricted and mood swing is also everyday thing.

Pleading with the general public for financial assistance, the host of ‘Mpom Te Sen’ also known as Mama Africa said “kidney disease is a condition one will not wish for the enemy”.

She therefore entreated Ghanaians to make routine checkups by looking for preventive measures to protect their kidneys from such dilemma as a damage kidney is non-repairable.
