Avram Grant Insists Foreign Coach Must Handle Black Stars

Former Ghana Coach Avram Grant says the Black Stars still needs a foreign trainer weeks after his departure as head Coach of the team.

The 61-year-old believes the team must be managed by an expatriate Coach despite calls from Ghanaians to have a local Coach for the team.

The Ghana Football Association last Friday closed applications from Coaches interested in the job with over 70 Coaches reported to have applied.

Grant having failed to lead the Black Stars to a Cup of Nations title says the team must be handled by a foreigner but added there are some local managers who can also lead the team.

“They (Black Stars) need help from outsiders, but I think there are some people in the country who can also take up the job,” he said in a tape played on Kasapa FM.

A six-member committee are expected to settle on a Coach before Ghana’s next assignment against Congo in a World Cup qualifier in June this year.

Meanwhile former Ghana Coach Kwesi Appiah and ex-Kotoko Coach Abdul Razak remains the two local Coaches to have expressed interest in the job.
