CPC Rewards Employees

Thirteen employees of the Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) whose ingenuity, innovation, dedication and hardwork led to the repair of the factory's Cocoa Powder Receiving Hopper, were on Thursday rewarded by Management. The workers converted the compressed air ejection system in the hopper into a vibrating ejection system, thus removing an operational bottleneck, which had significantly boosted the company's production capacity and income. Each of them took home a cash prize, in addition to a citation at a ceremony at the factory's premises in Tema. Mr James Danso, Chief Engineer, who led the awardees, made up of maintenance, workshop, electrical/electronic engineers and technicians, took the highest amount of 500 Ghana Cedis. Four senior staff members took away cash of 300 Ghana Cedis each, whilst each of the eight junior staff, received an amount of 200 Ghana Cedis. Speaking at the function, Mr Richard Amarh Tetteh, Managing Director of CPC, said the award scheme was aimed at boosting the morale of the workers and to encourage them to give of their best to move the company forward. He said rehabilitation works on the Confectionary Factory, especially the ground floor was on-going, adding that plans were also underway to import sub-regional beans to improve on the company's profit margins. The citation stated that the awardees saw the problem confronting the company as a technical challenge, which needed to be overcome, and that "fired by the can-do-spirit that was fuelled by ingenuity, innovation and dedication to the company, under the inspirational direction and leadership of the Chief Engineer, succeeded in solving it."
