Sekesua Community Benefits From Safe Water Network's Mechanized Borehole

Safe Water Networks and its associate partners have commissioned a mechanized borehole for the people of Sekesua in the upper Manya krobo district of the eastern region at a cost of 100,000 dollars.

The facility will supply safe drinking water to people in the community as part of the company’s corporate social responsibilities of poverty alleviation in deprived communities in the African regions.

Sekesua, is an over 1,000 populated farming community in the upper many krobo district of the Eastern region whose residents are predominantly cassava producers and processors (Gari production).

According to the chief of the community, Asafoatse Obotiapong VI, during an official commissioning of the of a mechanized borehole constructed by Safe water networks for the community, women and children treks several miles in search of potable drinking water especially during the dry season when the only well serving the community dries up.

The situation he laments,hinders their economic growth in several forms.
He lauded the company and its partners for their timely intervention.

In a brief address, the country director; Safe water networks, Mr Charles Nimako revealed, the company's objective is to contribute significantly in the life of rural residents through provision of safe hygienic drinking water to end epidemics of contaminated water.

He disclosed that, the company's target is to get 10.000 communities benefited by the year 2020.

The minister for sanitation and water resources Hon.Joseph Kofi Adda,who was a special guest for the the event, commend the partners for their marvelous efforts as in supporting reduce challenges on the government.

Hon. Adda again stated, the NPP led administration has private partnership at heart and will be ever ready to support such interventions by foreign bodies.

He charged the community to make good use of the facility and adopt good maintenance culture to sustain it.

The event was also witnessed by the Netherlands partner's, Dutch Ambassador.
