He attributed the tragic incident to the poor management of the tourist site, and wondered why the country has to usually wait for disasters to strike before addressing it.

Hours after the tragic incident, Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who visited the scene and also commisserated with the bereaved families, announced the setting up of a Committee of inquiry to look into the incident.

The Committee is aimed at addressing the root causes of the incident and making recommendations to avert any future occurrences.

Whiles commending government's decision to delve deeper into the issue, Hon Bawa however stated emphatically that "the setting of the committees [are] is beginning to be too many…why do we wait for these things to happen before we set up a committee…I am just excited that (1) government has decided to set up a committee to look into the details of it. Possibly, in the course of the findings of this particular thing, it will make for the last time; we will learn the lessons. But I think that what the people need there is well-structured institutions.”
