Driver Grabbed For Stealing Vehicle

A car-tracking device has led to the arrest of a 29-year-old taxi driver, who allegedly stole a vehicle from a guest house at Teshie, Accra, and sent it to Kasoa in the Central Region.

The suspect, Collins Danso, is currently in the custody of the police assisting in investigations.
The Teshie District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Peter Yembilla, confirmed the story to The Ghanaian Times in Accra on Wednesday.

He said on March 19, the complainant in the case, Anthony Minor, reported to the police that his car with registration number GE 1126-16, which was parked outside a guest house (where he spent the night) in Accra, was stolen.

Supt Yembilla said that when he woke up his trousers, keys to the car, two mobile phones and GH¢1250 were stolen from the room, and later found out that his car was stolen.
He said Danso was tracked with a car-tracking device sitting at a mechanic shop and arrested at a mechanic shop at Kasoa.

Supt Yembilla said the mechanic has absconded, adding that the case had been transferred to the Teshie Police Station for further investigations.

Supt Yembllia said a search on the suspect revealed G¢600.

The police commander advised drivers to install car-tracking devices in their vehicles.
