A total of 289, 207 students across the country are sitting for this year's ongoing West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The WASSCE is to grant the students access to the various tertiary institutions in the country.
The candidates are from 916 schools across the nation.
Education Minister, Matthew Opoku Prempeh on Thursday, March 30 embarked on a monitoring tour to some examination centers in the Greater Accra Region to get first-hand information about the candidates and preparations into the WASSCE by both authorities and students.
During his visit to three selected Senior High Schools - Presbyterian, Achimota and Accra Girls - the Minister admonished the students to desist from any examination malpractices.
He advised them to study hard and do their best to excel in the exams.
His first visit was to the Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC), Legon, where 925 students are writing the exams.
He later made stopovers at the Achimota and Accra Girls Senior High Schools respectively, and interacted with the headmistresses of the both schools before ending his tour.
