Retired Police Officers Call On Interior Minister

Members of the Retired Police Officers Association have assured the Interior Minister, Mr Ambrose Dery of their support in security matters.

The officers expressed their readiness in disposing their expertise for policing and national security, during interaction with Mr Dery to welcome him into office.

The Retired Police Officers presented to the Minister a copy of their constitution and a set of codified proposals that seek to safeguard their wellbeing.

Mr Dery expressed gratitude for their patriotic gesture and preparedness to lend their rich experiences for a national course of maintaining law and order.

He said government was committed to maintaining peace and security to sufficiently guarantee freedom of citizens to go about their daily social and economic activities without fear of intimidation.

He said talks on providing adequate security to Members of Parliament were on-going and that conclusions would soon be reached to adopt appropriate safety measures in the interest of the nation.

The media was urged to be circumspect and make conscious effort to understand security matters before churning out their news reports as their actions or inactions could have implications on state security.
