TUC Asks Employees To Work Hard

The Trade Union Congress (TUC), on Monday assured workers it would continue to fight for their welfare, and asked them to also work hard for increased production in their work places.

Mr Joshua Ansah, the Deputy Secretary General of TUC, who gave the assurance, emphasised that employee welfare and better condition of service were paramount to the labour union.

He was speaking at the congress of the Brong-Ahafo Regional branch of the Council of Labour of the TUC in Sunyani, which elected 16 executives to steer its affairs for the next four years.

The congress which was attended by 18 unions from 22 districts in the Region under the TUC, elected Mr Alfred Tetteh as Chairman, Mr Isaac Sarfo, Vice Chairman, Evelyn Ataa Kyeremaa, Second Vice Chair Person, Madam Comfort Asomah, Secretary and Gardesey Ernest Kafui, Assistance Secretary.

It was conducted and supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission.

Madam Comfort Amposah, Chairperson of the Women’s Committee, Ms Czarina Enyo Akua Fiawotso, Women’s Vice Chair, and Pricilla Ampomah Assistance Secretary to the Women’s Committee.

Others included Reindorf Adoma, who was elected Chairman of the Youth Committee, Benjamin Nkansah, Vice Chairman, and Ruth Yeboah Second Vice Chairman, Martine Appiah, Organiser, Emmanuel Mensah, Assistance Secretary to the Youth Committee.

Mr Ansah called for unity and team work among formal sector workers to enable them to achieve organisational goals and set targets.

He cautioned workers against absenteeism, laziness and lateness to work, and entreated them to always ensure that they channelled their grievances through laid down procedures for redress.

Mr Tetteh on behalf of the other executives thanked the Council for the confidence they had reposed in them and appealed to members of the Union to rally behind the executives for the betterment of the Council and the TUC in general.
