Road Crashes On The Decline In Nkawkaw

Available statistics at the Nkawkaw Police Division show that road crashes are on the decline in the area.

As of the end of the first three months of the year, 29 accidents were recorded, which resulted in four deaths, compared with the year 2016, same period figure of 35 and five fatalities.

Police Chief Superintendent James Sarfo-Peprah, the Divisional Commander, who made this known to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said nine people got injured in this year’s crashes as against the previous year’s total of 11.

He said the development although they found refreshing was not going to make them complacent.

The Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) would continue to work hard to drastically reduce road accidents, he added.

Chief Supt Sarfo-Peprah “if one person is killed we are not happy. We are going to continue to partner with all stakeholders to ensure that our roads are safe”.

He advised the drivers to be cautious on the road - respect road traffic rules and regulations, especially as the Easter festival approached.

He urged passengers to be bold to report drivers, who drove recklessly to the police.

Chief Supt Sarfo-Peprah urged people, planning to visit the Kwahu area for Easter Festival not to drive under the influence of alcohol to prevent any tragic incident.
