21 Injured In An Accident On Cape Coast - Winneba Road

Twenty one people sustained various degrees of injury in an accident involving four vehicles at Adams, on the Cape Coast- Winneba road on Thursday morning.

The accident said to have occurred around 8am recorded no fatalities. Eyewitnesses said an overtaking in a curve caused the accident.

Graphic Online’s Central Regional Correspondent, Timothy Gobah reported that the accident involved a petrol tanker, a BMW 4x4 vehicle, a mini bus and a tractor.

Eyewitnesses told our reporter that the driver of the tanker attempted to overtake the tractor in a curve but veered off its lane and hit the BMW vehicle and the bus which were coming from the opposite direction.

The accident victims were taken to the Cape coast hospital for treatment.

The Deputy Central Regional Police Commander, ACP J.G. Oklu, reminded motorists to be careful on the road, particularly on this "festive occasion."

He blamed most accidents on the roads to indiscretion on the part of drivers, and warned them to hasten slowly on the roads.

He discounted the erroneous belief associating accidents to festive occasions, such as Easter, saying "there is no basis for that."
