No Fake Malta Guinness On Market - FDA

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has asked the public to disregard information circulating on social media about the importation of an alleged fake brand of Malta Guinness onto the Ghanaian market.

The FDA said there was no fake brand of the product on the market, explaining that there were two brands of the Malta Guinness but the two were imported into the country by two different companies; Guinness Breweries Ghana Limited and Addra Sari Limited.

The former imported the product from Nigeria, whereas the latter imported it from Togo.
However, the two brands are registered by the FDA.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the FDA, Delese A.A Darko and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday.

The statement encouraged the public to provide the FDA any information that was likely to endanger public health and safety with respect to its mandate.

It reiterated the organisation’s commitment towards ensuring the protection of public health and safety.
