Nigerian Arrested For Attempting To Smuggle ‘Wee’

A 38–year-old man from Abia State in Nigeria, has been arrested by the police for possessing 154 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, at Darkuman, a suburb of Accra.

Oriji Ogbonnaya Alayi, a second hand clothes dealer, allegedly concealed the Indian hemp in used cloths parked in “Ghana must go” bags at a warehouse with the intention of smuggling the parcels to Nigeria.

The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Assistant Superintendent of Police, (ASP) Efia Tenge, confirmed the story to The Ghanaian Times in Accra on Thursday.

She said following a tip off, the police moved to Darkuman adding that “when police arrived at the warehouse, they saw a number of bags containing used clothes”.

ASP Tenge said when the bags were opened at the police station, 150 parcels of Indian hemp, concealed in second hand clothing were found.

She said Alayi confessed to the offence and told the police that the parcels belonged to one Goodman, who was on the run.

The Police PRO said the suspect would be arraigned before court, and that efforts were being made to arrest Goodman.
