Mr. Nabil Mohammed, the Local Manager of Islamic Schools in the twin districts of Atwima-Nwabiagya and Atwima-Mponua, said they should accept to invest their time and money in child’s education.

       He was speaking at a day’s workshop for proprietors, school management committees (SMCs) and parent-teacher associations (PTAs) of Islamic schools in the two districts at Abuakwa.

       It was held under the theme “Enhancing access and quality education delivery in Islamic schools, the role of proprietors, SMCs and PTAs”.

       The Islamic Education Unit (IEU) had organized the workshop to expose the participants to best management practices and leadership skills for efficient running of the schools.

      Mr. Mohammed encouraged parents to regularly visit the schools to find out not only how their wards were performing in the classroom but their conduct.

      They should again, support the teachers to instill discipline – good character training of the young ones.

      He additionally reminded them to attend meetings called by the PTAs to deliberate on issues pertaining to the welfare and the future of their children.

      He used the occasion to appeal to Zongo chiefs, Imams, Islamic NGOs and Muslim philanthropists to assist in efforts towards making the school environment child-friendly.

      Alhaji Ibrahim Amankwah, the Ashanti Regional Manager of IEU, urged the schools to uphold Islamic values.

      He said it was important to make sure that academic excellence was combined with morality.

      He also spoke of the need for religious tolerance to sustain the peace and harmony of the society.
