The Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) Municipal Chief Executive, Nana Appiah Korang has vowed to make sanitation an urgent priority of the Assembly under his watch.
Sanitation bye laws of the Assembly would be strictly enforced to curb the increasing spate of indiscriminate disposal of waste in the municipality.
He had subsequently, tasked heads of sub-Municipalities and environmental health officers to enforce sanitation laws in their areas without fear or favour to get residents to comply with the laws of the assembly.
Mr Korang was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency after he had toured some landfill sites and waste collection points at Komenda.
It was to enable him to assess the environmental sanitation situation in the area to help intensify efforts towards the promotion of good sanitation practices to prevent outbreak of diseases.
Mr Korang was unhappy with the situation at Komenda and said the Assembly needed to move in quickly to rid the town of filth to restore its beautiful scenery.
He assured that heaps of refuse left uncollected would be removed, drains cleaned and unauthorised stores and structures demolished.
The MCE appealed to the people not to litter indiscriminately saying, persons found throwing rubbish on the streets and dumping refuse at unauthorised points would face the full rigorous of the law.
He said the Assembly would embark on a sustained public education to bring the desired environmental change in the municipality.
