Two persons including a soldier accused of robbing a Marketing officer of GH 40,000 cedis at Lashibi have appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

Corporal Bernard Tsagli, the soldier and Joseph Ansah, a driver have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime and Robbery pleaded not guilty.

The two have been remanded into Police custody by the court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku.
Meanwhile accused persons through their counsel, Mr Andy Vortia claimed they were not at the scene on the day of the incident.

Mr Vortia said Tsagli explained that on the day of incident, he was on duty at the 37 Military Hospital whiles Ansah was at a funeral with his sister.

The court has ordered the defence counsel to file an alibi and reappear on June 1.
Prosecuting Superintendent of Police Kweku Bempah said George Obeng Boadi, a marketing officer is the complainant residing at Community 18, Tema.

Supt. Bempah said Corporal Tsagli is attached to the 37 Military Hospital and he reside at Burma Camp while Ansah resides at Adenta Frafraha.

According to prosecution on November 11, last year, at about 2:40 pm, the complainant went to Global Access Bank Limited, Sukumono branch and withdrew GH 40,000 cedis.

He said the complainant then boarded a taxi with two of his friends who are witnesses in the case.
Prosecution said on their way, four men in military uniform in another taxi stopped them.
“”Complainant and friends were forced to join them in their taxi and they drove them to Teshie Military Camp on the Lister Hospital Road,” prosecution said.

According to the prosecutor, the alleged military men attacked them and robbed the complainant of his GH 40,000 cedis.
He said after taking the money, the military men started alighting them by the road side one after the other.
As soon as the complainant alighted, he reported the matter to the Police. On May 16, this year, complainant had information that some military men had been arrested.

Prosecution said on May 17, this year, an identification parade was organised at the Baatsona Police Station where the complainant identified Tsagli and Ansah as among those who robbed him on November 11, last year.

Prosecution said the complainant indicated that Tsagli wounded him on his with a ring he was wearing and Ansah was the one driving the Opel Taxi cab.
