Tamale Mayor Under Siege

The Office of the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, Alhaji Harunna Abudulai Friday has been besieged by some irate youth of the ruling of the ruling National Democratic Congress over lack of job opportunities for the unemployed party supporters. The Tamale Mayour who had just returned home from the United States of America on a three-week official tour was welcomed with disappointing behaviour by the irate NDC youth in Tamale. The youth, numbering about hundred gave the Tamale Major three days ultimatum to meet their demands and threatened to vandalise all NDC paraphernalia in the Tamale Metropolis if their demands were not met. The youth also fumed over the retention of some public officers believed be NPP sympahisers and cited Mr Malik Gombila, Northern Regional Manager of the Metro Mass Transit Company as one of such persons. Alhaji Friday, the Tamale Mayor confirmed the irate youths action to The Heritage in a telephone conversation but hinted that his outfit would soon convene a meeting with the leadership of the youth to get to address their nagging grievances. He however, regretted that a section of the party could put up such behaviour to discourage government functionaries from living up to their responsibilities to ensure the better Ghana President John Mills promised. Meanwhile, some concerned citizens have expressed worry over the disturbing behaviour of the youth and urged security operatives in the region to stop such practices in order to enhance national security and to curtail the increase of the culture of impunity.
