Gender Minister Condoles With Late Capt. Mahama's Family

Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection has condoled with the family of the late Military Capt. Maxwell Mahama.

Hon. Otiko Afisah Djaba extended her condolences to the deceased family and condemned mob injustice in the country.

"On behalf of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, I want to extend our condolences to the family of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama. Our thoughts are with them in this trying time and I want to admonish the public to respect the privacy and dignity of the family."

She urged the Ghanaian citizenry to join the crusade against violence.

In a statement signed by Hon. Otiko Djaba, she called on the citizenry to have respect for rule of law in the country, saying "the recent gruesome murder of an army captain rudely reminded us that violence still lives with us and its effects are dire. Aside the loss of life and property, open violence has far-reaching psychological effects especially on children. Research has shown that most children who come into contact with violence tend to become depressed due to the horrors they are exposed to whilst some tend to use violence as a form of communication and become vengeful and aggressive. No child deserves a life like that.

"It is the time to be citizens and join hands to find constructive and sustainable ways to prevent this rising culture of violence. Let us do all we can to protect our society and ensure that the rule of law is observed and all perpetrators of violence are brought to justice".
