43,744 Candidates Sit For BECE In B/A

43,744 candidates are sitting this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Brong Ahafo Region, says the Ghana Education Service (GES).

Out of the given number, 23,311 are males while 20,433 are females.

Mr. Luke Mensah, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service, in the Brong Ahafo Region, who revealed this to Peacefmonline.com said all logistics and materials needed for the smooth running of the examination have been dispatched to all the 162 centres for the 5 day - long period.

The GES PRO also indicated that security were at post at all the centres who will ensure there will be no attempts of examination malpractices.

"I have visited Wamanafo, Amaasu, Wanfie, the Dormaa and Sunyani municipalities today. All the exam centres are very secured," Mr. Mensah added.

Meanwhile speaking with some of the candidates at the Twene Amanfo Examination Centre, some of the pupils said they were happy to take part in the examination, but not without tension. They said they expected their invigilators to be lenient with them in the exam hall.

However, at Achirensua, there were three out of four pregnant pupils between 14 and 16 years who could not turn up at the Achirensua Examination centre to partake in the examination.

They are from the Achirensua Roman Catholic JHS, Methodist JHS and Vasco International School in the Asutifi South district.
