Development Of Zongos Dear To Gov't - Veep

Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has said the government is serious about undertaking projects in Zongo communities to improve the living conditions of people residing there.

He said Zongo communities are lagging behind in development Fund is to help to improve conditions there.

Dr. Bawumia was addressing Muslims after worshiping with them at Agona Nkwanta, Takoradi and Shama Junction during his one-day visit to the Western Region.

He said government would make annual financial allocation to the Zongo Development Fund for projects that would meet the needs of communities.

Dr. Bawumia gave the assurance that the free Senior High Schools (SHS) programme would start in September as planned , saying the programme would make it possible for all children to benefit from SHS education.

He said teaching of Arabic language would be promoted for interested students and pupils and those who voluntarily want to take Junior High School (JHS) and SHS examinations in their language would be allowed to do so.

Dr. Bawumia said for this reason, government would restore allowances to teachers of the Arabic language.

He said President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is truthful and honest and would fulfill his promises to the people and called on the people to pray to Allah to open the way to the President to do so.
