Georgina Wood Retires Today

The Chief Justice Her Ladyship Georgina Theodora Wood will start her retirement on Wednesday June 7, 2017 after serving a ten-year term.

A thanksgiving service was done in her honour at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Accra on Tuesday June 6, 2017, which witnessed people from the clergy, politicians, lawyers and others. The ceremony brought together officials of Ghana’s justice system, the clergy, politicians, family, friends and the general public to draw the curtain down on her 10-year tenure as Chief Justice.

The service was graced by notables in the judiciary and legislature like the new Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo; Justice Jones Dotse; the Speaker of Parliament, Professor Michael Ocquaye; the Minority Leader, Haruna Idrissu, among others.

Justice Sophia A.B Akuffo takes over from her.
