395 Students Share One Computer At Gomoa Manso Gov't School - Assembly Member

The Assembly Member for Gomoa Manso electoral area, in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region, Hon. Isaac Kobina Baidoo has disclosed that 395 school children at the Gomoa Manso Government School, uses only one computer for their Information and Communications Technology (ICT) practicals.

Speaking in an interview with Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, the Assembly Member said the situation was unfortunate and a slap in the face of quality education. According to him, Manso has been deprived of learning materials such as text books, computers and other materials which has led to poor performance in their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

He wondered why the students who are preparing for their final exam next year, will sit and write the same paper with other advanced schools and perform better with this situation at hand. Hon. Isaac Kobina Baidoo also indicated that the one computer which the students use is in a poor state. He has underscored the need for authorities to pay attention to the school and other schools with similar challenges.

Quality education he stressed is premised on the provision of learning and teaching materials and when schools are deprived of such materials, thy will under perform.
